This project is actually the second half of a previously posted project.

I did finish this some time ago, and was not able to snap any pictures of it before my daughter Meadow had it filled with her toys, books, and stuffed animals. So this is what you get.

Since I already posted about the headrest storage, I’m going to limit this post to only about the bed frame. The bed is made up of three main cavities- a footer and two sides with a small gap between them (approx 10”) to allow some room to breath. The footer was going to have doors, but once it was installed Meadow decided that she wanted to leave them as open cavities for faster access to stuff. The sides have 2 sets of 2 drawers, which are dovetailed BB ply and have over-travel drawer glides (picture 3). I used a CNC to carve her initial “M” into the raised panel on the side of the footer, which is mirrored on both sides. Lastly, she picked out the drawer hardware at the local Rockler store, which is shown in picture 5.

The carcasses were made of 3/4 pine plywood, which i was able to roll paint on as a full sheet which helped cut down on a lot of the finish/paint time. most of this was pocket hole construction—which I’m not a big fan of—but it is started to grow on me for the ease of construction. The face frames were glued/nailed on site after the big three boxes were assembled. Believe it or not, it will come apart relatively easily for transport if/when we ever need to worry about that.

Thanks again for looking!

Very nice, and if she filled it up that quick you know she must have approved… Great work!
