A number of lumberjocks have inspired and taught me as I have lurked over the last several years. Thank you. You have taught me much. I have also been inspired by the Shakers, through the books and photos of Christian Becksvoort, Thomas Moser, Robert Meader, Michael Horsham, John Scherer and Edward and Faith Andrews. The furniture helps me to live out the command of Philippians 4:8 to dwell on things that are lovely and true.
This desk, for a small room in our small second home, is my attempt to honor the Shaker style though I lack the skills to build in the original methods. Maple ply for top and sides, maple faces, poplar drawer backs, tapered legs, dovetails courtesy of Leigh jig, knobs from Hardware of the Past. The lack of separate drawer fronts made measurements more exacting. Thanks for looking.

This is really The joinery is tight, it definitely is Shaker inspired and the dovetails are clean. Excellent work!

Very nicely done. Perfectly simple, a true tribute to Shaker.
