I finally completed the countertop made from pallet wood. This was made for my sister and brother-in-law. They own a grocery store in Chicago, and were interested in using pallet wood for their new kitchen island. They go through hundreds of pallets every year, so it was particularly meaningful for them. Pallets, as many of you know, are not the easiest material to work with.

Pallet wood strips planed to 1/2 thick, glued and nailed to 1/2” plywood backing (4’ x 8’)
Edged with pine strips, resulting in final dimensions of 49.75” x 97.75”
Minwax stain
Varathane Triple Poly finish
Lots of sanding

The legs are made from some leftover pine stair trends, laminated and planed down to square. Attached via t-nuts and hanger bolts.

The cabinets were purchased from Menards.

Interested to hear your thoughts.
