My mother-in-law was a particular fan of Snoopy and associated cartoon characters. I think she even liked me (as a character (maybe not so much as a .. ?) As a BOY Scout Leader, I was intrigued by “reinforcing” her positive opinion (of me) by replicating a couple of Snoopy drawings in relief. I think I was successful (with her) , .. though my father-in-law likely had a different opinion!

For those looking for “simple” carving projects, .. what could be more simple than a cartoon! In soft wood (Basswood, fir, etc.) you don’t have to worry about grain, perspective or associated details. Just have fun turning 2D into 3D projects (tiles?) Everyone can connect with Snoopy (except perhaps “Cancel Culture” idiots!) Minor, even moderate deviations from the images are still recognizable, and appreciated by people with an actual sense of humor!

Cute little carving! I always liked Charles Shultz’ comics.

Off topic, there are idiots on both sides of the “cancel culture” phenomenon, like anything else.

Snoopy always puts a smile on my face, who wouldn’t ?

Nice gift, good idea and craft on that…
