Shooting and planing boards
small parts.

Each time I had to plane small parts, I glued a small piece of wood on top of a board, to use it as a planing stop. This time I had to plane a bunch of small pieces both in thickness, end and length direction, so I thought is was time to make something permanent, that could be used in the future also.

This post is from the blog: https://www.lumberjocks.com/mafe/blog/132400

6. Size matters…

Hope it can be to some inspiration, might even help a few arthritis fingers.

I’m not much of a planing board guy but this is an interesting small part fix. I shall keep it for further reference when the need calls. It looks to work well.

Great shooting board , Mads. I have always wanted to build one, but too many projects get in the way and take preference…especially if they are paying jobs!!

Cheers, Jim

Me two (ok 2 (too) not 3) and I don’t often use hand tools.

Shooting boards as art. I like it, and curious about what is going to be coming off them soon. ;)

Hi LJ’s,

Lew, thank you dear Lew.
metolius, laughs, yes. Thanks I am so happy if it could inspire.
doubleDD, I have normally just put a plane upside down and hoped my fingers were still there. Laughs.
Ivan, Yes Ivan, I’m ready now. ;-D
Jim J, this one might be an inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwYJhfChDdM Thanks.
mtnwild, I hope I will not explode one day, but for now I’m having a good time, laughs. Big smile.
AJ1104, Thanks a lot AJ, I have to admit I love the small planes, they are always such a joy to use.
corelz125, the right tool, for the right job. Thanks.
Andre, thanks for the kind words. I don’t use my big shooting board a lot, but when I need it, no other tool / jig can replace it, so I love them.
LittleBlackDuck, Smiles, Thanks.
balidoug, Thanks a lot, I do my best, or close to it… Laughs.
Swirt, These were made just after a project where I needed them, I decided next time I want it more easy and safe. Thanks with a warm smile.

Best thoughts,
Mads
