Kitchen Custom Cabinets

Here’s the second part of the cabinets I’m building for this house. These are all in the kitchen. The customer wanted blue paint with a hickory countertop and an accent around the custom range hood.

The countertops will be quartz.

Sorry the pictures are so bad, they were taken at night.

The cabinets are all popular hardwood and maple plywood. The interiors are clear coated so the maple looks really nice. All the finish was applied at a professional finish shop. I didn’t have the patience or a setup to do all the paint spraying and masking, etc.

The island is a wealth of storage, including the custom toekick drawers. I was skeptical at first, but I think they’re a great idea now for storing baking sheets. The countertop is 2.25” thick solid hickory. Let’s just say it is heavy and not much fun to move.
Here’s the story about building it…

All the hardware is Blum softclose.

I’m pretty pleased with how it all turned out, and my client is also.

Here are some additional pictures.

Round the corners on that island. Even a 1/2” R would help.

Love of my Life loved the fru fru blue. I liked the countertop, that Hickory kicks

I agree with a 1/4 round of those sharp edges, and taking the corners off. That said, the customer is always right, even when they are wrong.

Thanks for the compliments, fellers. It was a fun build. There’s more to do, some shelving and another cabinet to build, so I guess my work advertised itself!

I did break the edges nod the counter top with sandpaper. I just don’t think a roundover is going to look real great. I have some little clear corner bumpers I glue to the corners that are not too noticeable. The client gets the final say!

Nice to see your talent is getting you work and giving the customer what they want.

Great job on the counter top. Like you said it must be a heavy sucker.
