Hello there lj’s friends.
I was busy , carving, during the lock down due to the ,,,you know what, this guy is a young male that took me a year to complete. Made out of a solid block of bass wood 8’’ x 8’’ x 24 ’’ it stands up now from the ear tufts to the tail 20 inches, and at the largest on chest 7and a half inches. From the feet to the base it is another piece , made also basswood and everything is hand painted in acrylic, that was almost harder to achieve than the carving itself, but we are here to learn, right ? Everything is fixed on a slab of maple that I cut down in my back garden few years ago, and I kept as souvenir, ironic or not it’s now sitting on my fireplace mantle shelf staring at me like only an owl would do .
I had some good and some other feelings while doing that, but at the end I’m just eager enough to start another one, a smaller version ( his kid brother ) is already on the making ,and another more ambitious project is on the drawing board,,,I’m competing against myself and that resume the story,
Feel free to comment, feel free also to give advice, after all there are some very good artists among this community.

As usual have a nice day in the shop, play safe and remember it is still permited to smile.

So you rushed it… if it was a female, it’d still be telling you how to do it.

Ditto all of the above. Great work. For the next (smaller) one, I suggest a screech owl. Much smaller!
