Project Information

A teacher asked if I would make five Pottz's as she called them for her students. I knew exactly what she wanted since she bought one of mine a few years back. They are all made from left over log ends and I was gonna throw them away anyway. I had two on the shelf so I needed to make 3 more but I made 4 more instead. She wanted to pay for them but since they were for special needs kids I gave them to her. She said these will make them very thankful and happy, me too. 4-5'' tall and 3 1/2 -4'' in diameter, finished with lacquer. I hope they all enjoy them.
They are made from
Honey locust
Osage orange
Elm
Maple burl
Pear
Box elder

They's pretty, Dave! Just be careful about taking Pottz's name in vain there. ;-)

And that's a heck of a thing, donating them. Good job!

They look great Dave! I'm sure the kids will love them. I haven't heard of the name Pottz for these before.

Thanks Dave. I forewarned Potty the other day that I was going to use his name. Either he'll be proud or I'll be getting a call from his lawyers. LOL.

Thanks John. She was referring to the shape of them that reminded her of a little pot. The spelling is different but the first thing that came to my mind was our LJ buddy Pottz. So a little fun will be involved.

Thanks mtnwild. I do so many different turnings that I'm glad to give them away on special occasions. Heck, I give most of everything away anyway.

Hi Pottz. I thought you'd get a kick out of these. Remember she was the one that named them I just changed the spelling. But don't worry, you will receive your royalties just as soon as your lawyer and my lawyer get done taking their share. And yes I love a nice Pottz too. LOL
Maybe I can get your permission to put your picture on them.

Thanks Les B

Thanks Ivan. I'm DD, just calling them pottz's hahaha

Thanks Tony. Cloning a pottz? I think ones enough. There was no problem donating them, it keeps me busy in the shop between projects. My favorite is the Osage orange and the honey locust although I kind of like them all.
Hey what do you think of me getting them signed by Pottz, they can really be worth something some day. LOL.

Now you've done it! Anthropomorphizing wooden vessels into someone who suspiciously looks like a beagle.

Fine collection however! Just watch out for the Potts turned Daves that are probably being chucked up right now….

Hey Pottz, no pictures? Not even your signature? I may have to change the name to pot-zzz's

Thanks Dick. It;s a pleasure to make these and give them away. What would be thrown away as waste sometimes gives people pleasure.

Thanks splint, that's a good one. I'' have to keep both eyes open.

Thanks woodbutcher.

Thanks Earl. Don't be starting any trouble with pottz. He was kind enough to let me use his title . Ah on second thought go ahead he like the chaos.

Thanks Pete. The grain did come out on them for being so small. I was thinking they would look plain.

Never been a great fan of bowls or vases… actually I've never been a small fan… OK, no fan… Though I don't mind lidded ones as they present a puzzle in extricating content.

However, that barking one (pickie #4) bowled me over.

But c'mon DD². while Ms. Teacher may think Potzz is cute, it'd scare the bjesus outta the kids.
