This is the 3rd iteration of this design: First was wood with wood dowels, clear finish. Lasted 10 years but looked horrible. No way to keep it clean. Second was wood frame with stainless dowels. No way to keep white paint from flaking, and I tried several kinds of finish.

So I made a frame from laminated Corian to match the cutting board. Used 1/2” stainless tubes, and drilled holes with a 13mm drill which provides just enough clearance to slide the tubes in. Hot melted the back and front together before drilling, so that all holes line up. Everything glued together with epoxy. The hanger is held in place by a pin.

Some times wood just isn’t the best material for a certain project.

good idea, well done…

What a clever and attractive solution!
