One of my carvings that stands 21” tall and 16” Wide. Aged Bronze Metal Coating was used for the finish over some recycled cedar fence I used for the carving.
Originally I was trying to come up with a “different” type of model which ended up with an alien attacking a wolf. I told my wife that it reminded me of her brother, which she didn’t take as a joke and threaten to throw it away (among other things). (I thought it was funny). I ended up decapitating its head and feet and used the wings and body and substituted an eagles head with a fish replacing the wolf. I then went with an Aged Bronze Metal instead of the powder nickel coating

Was was wondering how that last picture was relevant until reading your explanation, funny.
I am about ready to give carving a go and am wondering about your method. Did you attach the new head to the wing before craving it or after?

I used Aspire for some modeling and to get the G-Code for the toolpathes for the CNC machine. Showing the wolf, I did a double sided cut by slicing the model in two pieces. As far as adding or removing a part of the model, I do use other software like Rhino, ZBrush and Netfabb to work the 3D model, so in case of the eagles head, in the software, it’s easy to remove one part and add another.

Really don’t understand your process, but I believe the end justifies the means. Whatever it takes to create your vision. Cool eagle….

Nice work, and does that means it can stay outside as well? looks like very hard work to achieve.
