When I was given my grandfather’s old tackle box I knew I should make a shadow box to display the old lures. Most everything in the tackle box is from around the 1970’s, so I wanted to use some old barn wood witch was from an old barn he had salvaged as well. For the frame I mitered the corners and reinforced them with trim head screws. The plexiglass is secured in a dado and the back panel is held in a rabbit by screws. To hang the box, I routed key hole slots in the back panel. The box is finished with water based clear satin polyurethane topcoat. Build date of September 2020.

Thanks for stopping by,

Matthew Stillwell

Very nice presentation to honour your grandfather but I’m not too happy about calling the 1970’s timber old.

Very nice! Brings back memories of going through my dad’s tackle box as a kid. We used to love to look through all his lures. Nicely done!

Matt that’s awesome. I’ve had an idea just like that for some of my Dad’s old fishing lures. What’s amazing is that I have my Dad’s old Mitchell spinning reel as well. You bring back a lot of wonderful memories, fishing with my Dad.
