Some modern touches on a traditional form. All pine except for the feet, sawtooth shelf supports and a couple bits of trim. This was an on again/off again COVID project that (as usual) took way longer than first imagined. I’m in an apartment, so limited to hand tools and have to pare, rather than mallet things like dovetails. I like the fact that milk paint is zero VOCs but I’ll be adding a binding agent of some kind if I use it again. The scratch bead around the drawer fronts was a last minute idea that worked out really well.

I like that form for a linen chest. The scratch bead sets it off nicely. Nice job.

Don’t sweat the time, unless you are doing it for $$$$ just enjoy the journey. :-)

Nice – my wife, who is of Swedish descent, would love this.

Thanks Steve – I feel that the step-in makes it loom less large in the room and being two pieces, it’ll be easier to handle on moving day.

Thanks William – I got the idea after seeing some really interesting (and highly priced) Gustavian and painted primitive stuff in an NYC shop.

This is really nice and the beading around the drawers is a really nice touch, I like milk paint myself and it goes well with this style of furniture. Using hand tools to complete the project is always a plus. Nice craftsmanship!!!
