My brother was recently installing a new upstairs central h/a unit for me when we got to talking about woodworking. He has always been a big supporter of my hobby and is responsible for donating quite a few of my tools early on. He is one of those guys who never met a tool he couldn’t use and quite a few have followed him home over the years. He asked me if I would be willing to build him a cedar urn…and of course I said yes. We discussed designs for it and really couldn’t settle on one that he liked until I found an idea online for a tool box urn. The one I found was painted but he wanted it clear coated so the cedar would show. Had a few scraps left of some cedar I salvaged out of a 100 year old farm house to work with along with a thicker slab that was given to me by the cedar king himself Mr. Todd Barone. Access is through the base by removing four screws so the latches and hinges are just for show. Finished with clear spray lacquer. Hopefully he won’t have a use for it for years to come.

Well done. I’m truly thinking about making a similar one for me so it’s ready for me in 20 or 30 years hopefully and makes it easier on the ones I leave behind!
