Out in the shop today. Decided to make a sort of little twitch bait for early in the season when Ice goes out in the spring here at the lake. It’s about fifteen degrees here in Maine today. These are very small, but with a little detail. Hard to work on, carve, detail painting, etc, as they’re about the size of my little finger. A little flash to them using some rubber skirt material.
They sink head down with their tail ends pointed up. The flashabou tries to float and waves in the current. Hoping to twitch them and entice (maybe annoy) a few nesting bass in the spring maybe.

Anyway, made of white pine and painted with an air brush. I make everything but the hooks.. .and for this one I decided to use up some eyes I had around instead of making them. A video of the build.
.

Very nice. Great video, fish would have to be crazy not to go for these. It’s 15 below here in Montana. Stay warm.

LOOKING GREAT!

You can send me a couple—The son I live with fishes for bass all the time! We do NOT have to wait for the ice to clear off the rivers/lakes that he fishes. Just the temperature to be in the 50’s/

Hey Crafty, you make beautiful lures and I’ve admire them afar without commenting as the closest I get to fishing is 1 doz. oysters (wink-wink)...

Have you shown the fruits of your labour?... By that I don’t mean apples, or peaches, but maybe a pear of Minkies or Orcas you caught on your creations.

Thnx LBD… Here’s a small collage of catches from last summer. No huge fish here in MY lake but enough to have some fun.

Love it… now the next fruity challenge is to pear up each of the fish with the appropriate juicy lure.

The bottom left nearly incriminates, however, a full profile would do it more justice.

Have your say...
