I made a half scale version of the Bookpile project as a Valentine’s Day gift for my wife. She has an embroidery machine and does beautiful work. Also, she is an avid reader. I used cherry for the box. The top book is a lid for the box. I glued a small block to the underside of the lid to hold it place.
The CNC cut files were provided by Vectric, a CNC software company.

I like this a lot! Very cool idea, you don’t see stuff like this everyday.

I also like this alot. I would like to see it up close – r, and to see the interior. I see a combo of joinery on the top, and wonder why it was done that way?

Thank you.
Brian, the sides that show the binding and the edges of the project were carved on a CNC router. They top parts had to be glued to the center block to make the lid.
