I made these for our next door neighbors here in the park for use under those flimsy 9” paper plates.
These plates are 9/16” x a 9 1/8” diameter and made from Mahogany . I would have liked them to be a little thicker but they are made from some panels that were in some old raised panel doors that have been laying in the wood rack for years. No one knew what was in them until I cut one apart.

They are finished with Danish Oil and buffed and waxed.

Cheers,Jim

Good job on recycling Jim. We had some that almost looked like basket bottoms that we used for camping. They did the job.

Fantastic idea! Being thin like that keeps the weight down and less cumbersome. Love It!

Jim this something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I think they’re essential at times. They look nice.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I think you can see the value of them- especially handy when you have watermelon on paper plates!!!!!!!If the plate bends you wear the food!

Hi Pottz. I think you are right. I’ll make a few pair for when the craft shows open up again! I think I’ll use cherry for them!

Cheers, Jim

ive seen paper plate holders made from a whicker material and the plate gets pressed into it.you could probably do that on yours by just turning a slight curled lip, that way the plate cant slide around.

Thanks, Eric.

Hi Pottz, I would have put that lip on them if the stock was thicker. The neighbors said they work real good like they are….........Cheers, Jim

Nice idea, Jim. If we ever do any entertaining where food goes on paper plates again, I should have a set of those ready. So I guess there‚Äôs plenty of time…
