I saw one of these on Facebook so thought I would have a go.
The box is black walnut and the base and finial are Figured Mulga, (wattle)
I made the base first and then while turning the finial I broke about 1 inch off the tip. Crying.
It looks a bit stubby but it was the last of the piece so had to use it.
The box is where I keep all my money, LOL.
It’s 6 inches square and stands 7.5 inches tall. Sanded to 400 and sprayed with clear gloss varnish.
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.

That box is too big for your money Bob. LOL. There’s something special about this box Bob but I can’t put my finger on it. I really like the winged center.

Interesting box. Now you need to keep it in a safe, since you told all the Hooligans’ out there your cash is stashed in it.. :-)

Very interesting design. I like it.
If you ever do it again, consider putting a glass or plexiglass cylinder between the top and bottom of box about 4 inches tall. Would make a good display thingy.

The wings may be an eye catcher, but that spire is a skull piercer 8^)
Looks like a fine art mantle piece, may you treasures be kept forever safe!

Wonderful piece.
For what its worth it doesn’t appear too stubby to my eyes.
I would consider the mishap as part of the build process and design.
Keep turning!
