So, my wife and I are getting older and can’t seem to easily put our shoes on. So I decided it would be better putting our shoes on from the sitting position. My friend shinju gave me two pieces of black walnut. With the wood in hand I went about the task of drawing out a bench that would utilize most of the wood. This is what I came up with. The bench is 15” high, 34” long and 18” wide. The slats are 1”X 1” and the connector blocks used to join the sides with the top and the bottoms are 1”X 1” X 2”. Big shout out to my very talented fellow woodworker Shinju for the wood donation.

Nice bench. I’d probably flip the order around, and lift my foot onto the bench, so the lean OVER wasn’t so far away.

Great aesthetic – not the familiar solid top. Cool & innovative.

Thx for sharing
