side tables

I finally finished the side tables I have wanted to make for the past 2 years. Other projects seemed to get in the way.
The top and the legs are Cherry and the aprons are Birdseye Maple. The front and rear aprons are mortised and tenon to the legs. The side aprons are fastened to the front and rear aprons with a shouldered sliding dove tail. The Birdseye maple is tinted with dye just to bring out the figure, the Cherry is left natural. The top coat is water based poly. Sorry for the poor pictures as they don’t show the figure in the wood very well. Have a great day everyone and stay safe in the shop!

Nice clean design and am a big fan of the floating top. Did you cut the legs with a band saw?

Super work Rich. I like the design a lot and the lumber looks great together. I agree the floating top is nice touch.

Rich, fantastic design! The floating top the curved sides etc are great. Whish you had show the” shouldered sliding dovetail ” That sounds difficult to do.

since I had 8 legs I made a templet, rough cut them on the bandsaw, and used a router with the templet toclead them up.

Thanks, If I’m at the hardwood dealer and I see something I really like I just buy it even if I don’t have a project in mind.
