Made this ring using the bentwood method. I used some macassar ebony, then inlayed a chanel, filled with Campo Del Cielo meteorite chunks. With CA finish.

Beautiful, the meteorite parts are really unusual.
So what’s the “bentwood method”? Bending layers instead of carving, or something else?

I too wondered about the bent wood method… and found this pretty good article .

Hi! Yes, I steam bend wood veneers to get the wood grain to go around the ring. This makes them really durable. Then I work them on the lathe to get the desired effect.

Did you apply the CA while the ring was still spinning on the lathe? Did you use a thicker or thinner version? Presumably fine sanded and polishing compound afterward?

No I apply it by hand. And use medium.

Nice ring, I’ve made a few myself. I really like the way it came out.

Cool. How did you smooth and level the meteorite chunks?
