Using Aspire again with their clipart, I made my daughter a new mantel. I used some 2×12 Douglas fir. The problem was, because it was straight from Home Depot, the water content was pretty high, so after I carved it, it started to warp. I clamped it to the bench for several days to let it dry, which fixed the warpage.
After I installed it, I made three picture frames for some large portraits of my granddaughters to top it off.
