Thought it was time to start 2021 with a new boot. Had this cypress wood kicking around in my shop so I stopped looking at it and cut out a boot blank. A day later a boot came through the carving dust and the Clown Boot is now on display in my gallery.
Cypress is a nice wood to carve but sanding is tricky as the grain varies in softness. Finish is a combination of a French polish a product from Lee Valley Tools and topped off with several coats of shellac.
Think of a funny clown and enjoy the moment!
