I took the stl file of this eagle in to ZBrush and separated the head, body and base so I could machine it in different woods. The Head and the Base is Maple and Body is from some recycled cedar from an old fence I tore down. The biggest problem was when I sliced them, some of the concaved areas weren’t concaved, so there was a lot of hand sanding and grinding to make the parts fit. All in all, I think it turn out okay. It stands 24-inches tall and is 13-inches wide.
Usually on top of roofs you see a weather vane that is a chicken. I think my eagle looks better on the roof of the gazebo I built in my back yard.

Great piece and I’m sure you won’t have too many birds or small animals hanging round you gazebo.
Beautiful work.

Yeah, that would drive my neightbor’s dog CRAZY! He practically had apoplexy when I put a fake owl on the fence to keep the robins from stealing my cherries. That is TOO realistic. Great job.

Cool eagle! Nice gazebo, too! If it’s on a weathervane, maybe it will really scare off some varmints. I made a pig from an old 5 gallon propane tank, and one of my Maltese dogs went nuts when she saw it.

That’s one amazing eagle sir, but the WOW for me is your use of technology to create some beautiful woodwork.
