My wife persuaded me to branch out from making garden furniture and asked me to make a rocking horse to add to her doll/teddy bear collection. Having limited woodworking experience and none at all in making toys, I purposely kept it as simple as I could. Here’s the almost finished article prior to final preparation before applying the finish, which is going to be Danish Oil.

Your wife is a wise woman. That looks very nice. Is it large enough for a child, or doll sized?

Neat job PhilVIICMLXXIX (sorry for the renaming, I’m an old Roman Hungarian refugee)! Welcome to LJ.

How far can you trot it around in your back yard… can it jump steeples?

Thanks for the kind comments. I can’t take all the credit for this though as the originator should receive some credit too for providing the free templates. If anyone is interested in making their own rocking horse you can get all the information and free templates at this address: https://youtu.be/Gk17_0O9EA8

Kind regards,
Philip

Oh, forgot to mention: the rocker is sized for a child, say, 3>6 years old.

Very nice rocker. Reminds me of one My Dad made for our kids. They rode it to death!

Have your say...
