New bench for people passing my shop
we can all need a little care.

For many years now, I have had a bench in front of my workshop, this for people to be able to take a rest, hold hands with their love, talk with friends, or simply to sit down and think about life, pull the plug in the middle of the busy city of Copenhagen.
On sunny days, I use it my self, to enjoy a meal or a cold beer, alone or in the company of a friend or a loved one.

The bench is actually the lower part of my shaving horse, so when I wanted to brig it to my allotment house, realized I would take away this pleasure from people and especially the neighbours… hmmmm what do one do? Well make a new one of course, just the bench part, in this way I actually still have a saw bench and can bring the parts if needed from the allotment. I build another shaving horse, so I will probably not need that, but nice to have the option.
This post is from the blog:

1. The bench / horse in front of the workshop.
2. Legs.
3. Recycled board.
4. Shaping the tenons.
5. The bench / horse in front of the workshop.
6. In use.

Wishing you all a happy new year, hope it can be to some inspiration, to care for others, even the once you don’t know, or might never meet.

Best thoughts,

What a splendid idea, my friend. Copenhagen looks like the most wonderful place to visit.

A lovely feature to your shop. I can imagine there is a satisfaction in seeing others make use of your bench.

A beer on a bench in Copenhagen. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

I’ve only been to the airport in Copenhagen on my way to Norway. Lots of moving sidewalks which saves a lot of walking. Looked wonderful from the air. Great bench and purpose!

They get to rest and talk. You get the satisfaction of giving them something, and people watch.
I didn’t know you had a shop on street level. Very nice.

Next time in Copenhagen I will make it a point to stop by and enjoy life from the view of your bench. I would enjoy having a couple cold ones with you also. Nice looking bench and the good spot for people to chat.

You do all the shops along your street proud. A place for a brief pause to rest. Happy New Year!
