i call this the stump table because i designed the base too sort of resemble a tree stump,at least that was my thought.this was something i did about 16 years ago,i just added the upper drawer that holds remote controls so i decided to post it.the base is made from 8/4 cherry, the strips down the front are padauk, not just for looks but to cover large screws that join the pieces together.bottom drawer is box jointed and just rides on wood, top drawer is on soft close glides.handle on bottom drawer i made from cherry.no handle on top.the slab top is oregon mrytle wood,2”x22”x58”.many say bark needs to be removed because it will fall off, well as you can see thats a myth.the original finish was 3 coats of maloff poly oil blend, and i just added a fresh coat of general finishes gel top coat satin to brighten it up.the room is rather dark and the pic’s dont show the chatoyance the wood has in sunlight.

Not a big fan of live edge, but that is a nice chunk of wood, like the remote drawer, not so sure about the base:)

the base looks too modern for the top and you have WAY too many units that need a remote. However, it servers it’s purpose and has it’s own identity – really like the upper drawer
now, getting back to the top – WOW !
