Decorative spoon of eastern red cedar finished with BLO. The only power tool I used was a random orbital sander. First time using a coping saw, not sure why I didn’t try it sooner. I had fun making this spoon and I was proud to gift it today.

Really nice design. Beautiful craftsmanship. Very attractive food. How did you carve out the bowl?

Thank you! I used a spoon gouge. I don’t remember the details, just that its the one Paul sellers used in his spoon video on youtube.

Very nice! You might want to look into Welsh Love Spoons for ideas on your next spoon.

Great spoon.
It has a very unique rustic look and the cedar has a nice tone.
Keep it up!

With all my Christmas projects over, your spoon has inspired me to try it. Hope mine turns out half as good as yours. Nice workmanship.

Love the shape.

Throwing this out about food safety of cedars. Some aren’t safe for cooking or eating use, most are Ok. WRC is excellent. I only used this link because it’s more complete than most.

Good point @therealSteveN this is meant to be decorative only. I definitely didn’t use a food grade finish either
