I have an old Airdyne bike that I like to use for part of my exercise program. Typically I turn on the radio but have wanted at times to be able to view some videos on my phone – there are so many woodworking videos and so little time. With the moving handles it is a bit precarious to think about how to place the phone. I decided I would build a little cage over the control console. This is definitely not fine craftsmanship but I am looking forward to watching my favorite woodworking YouTubers while also getting in a good workout.
The holder is made out of popler. I have some bumpers that I put on the inside and back so the wood will not rub on the control panel. I added a small piece of heat-treated popler on the front of the ledge for the phone and then added a few more rubber bumpers so that it is nice and secure.

Very clever and well done.
And now if you take a wrong turn and get lost, having the phone will come in handy!

Dan – like these little “silly” projects that really do take some thought to solve a “problem”
Jim – Merry Christmas to you as well
ChuckV – haha – guess I can also make a contact for a snack delivery to the workout room!!
Have your say...
