At our school, I made a step stool. I used Walnut to build mine because I enjoyed the look of its darker color. I also used a V-carve to carve Johnson onto the face of my stool. How I got that face to be sturdy as it is, is I cut them in class, cut a biscuit joint in, put in the biscuit, and glued the two boards together. After completion of building the stool, I Used a water-based polyacrylic gloss on all parts of the stool to seal it tight.

Your Step Stool Looks great. I remember making one when my oldest daughter had a pair of twins and I made a stool for them.

Be proud of your stool and welcome to the “World of Woodworking”. I’ve been doing it for about 60 years.

Great looking stool. I like that you took a risk with the wood selection to get a more figured grain. Good work!
