I wanted to try and make watch boxes that were as compact as possible while being able to fit even larger watches. My first prototype was made from pine and it was a bit larger and taller than it needed to be.
My second try was making these few boxes, and lining the compartments with felt. All the top and bottom panels were made from veneers on plywood or MDF.
- Maple & Walnut
- Sapele & Maple
- Maple & Padauk
They ended up being mostly the same size, and I learned a lot about consistency and having a proper process for making boxes. I finished them with Danish Oil and Paste Wax. The watch pillows I got from Aliexpress – you can get the same from Amazon at a slightly higher price.
Overall I am happy with how these turned out. Some mistakes were made of course but I learned a lot from them.
