This bed is made of solid white oak, except for the panels, which are white oak plywood. All of the lumber came from the same tree and was purchased from a fellow member of my local woodworking club. There are thirty-eight mortise and tenon joints in the headboard. The design of the headboard is taken from a bed in my sister-in-law’s house, and the plan for the platform and frame came from an issue of Woodsmith Shop. The Christmas quilt was made by my talented wife. When all the Covid-19 mess is over, we’ll be ready to host some guests.

That is something to be proud of! White oak is only slightly harder than concrete. I love that headboard. Really nice job.

Oh no! I shouldn’t have looked, now I have to build one! My wife has been looking for a new bed and we haven’t been able to find one we liked, until now. This is beautiful work and a perfect fit for our needs, so, unless I can convince you to send it to Texas, I guess I have found my next project. Just kidding about sending it to Texas Phil.
An outstanding piece, good job!
