Interesting wood ! I believe LJ Robscastle just planed the heck out of
wood he’d left out in the weather for who knows how long.
It “told me” that all it needed was black borders around.
Okay, it wasnt quite that quick—the flap-over lid (or whatever you call it when
you glue a piece to the under-back of the lid, and put the pivot in the
ends of that piece .. so that the lid covers all 4 sides)
that took a while. But now I have it, i like it.
And the feature M&Ts, umm, were not all perfect the first time.
And the black stain took a few goes, partly because it was on 2 different woods:
the corner-posts of redgum, and
the horizontal box-edges of cherry scraps, also via Rob, so 2 big thanks to him.

I like the design a lot – simple but elegant. Could add even just a few other details but the basic idea is a great one.
