MAPA veneer box

Got lots of great veneers, many in extremely bad condition,
from an ex-cabinetmaker friend. The top panel piece (19 by 12 cm)
was the biggest I could get out of the MAPA,
and the pieces for the 4 sides were not that easy to flatten either.

I do not know exactly what the light-brown (frame)
and light-to-medium-brown (trims around panels)
woods were—whatever was on hand, and more or less matched the
MAPA background and features.

The way it is all M&T-ed together, I think it would survive being dropped.

No hinges, so that the recipient can choose which is back or front.
And she should fill the box with something—whatever she likes—
so that the interior veneer is less visible ! it looked better before it was glued.

Nice box.
I like the simplistic design and the lid with no hinges.
Great use of some pretty veneer!

The veneers look excellent, nice save! I agree with the no-hinge concept, sometimes one side just looks better on that day 8^)

Never worked with veneers before. If I thought I could do half as good as this one, I would be willing to try it. Excellent job. Mel
