Our grandson turned one year old in November For his first birthday, I made an assortment of 84 maple blocks in various shapes. The smallest blocks are 45 mm cubes. All the other blocks are multiples of 45mm. I also made a dovetailed crate to hold the blocks out of an old piece of pine shelving. The crate is embellished with some relief carving.

Nice one Peter. The carving is superb. Lettering isn’t easy and the figure is great too.
All in all a great idea.

What a cute gift – and one that will allow him to use his imagination to build…well, whatever he wants! That carving is amazing to me – really sets this apart as a one of a kind. Thanks for sharing.

Well done! The grandson should have lots of fun with this, and could hand it down to a grandson. Nice carving, too!
