Beautiful box and work.
I’m always amazed at handcut dovetails with pins that are that narrow.
Great job and someone’s going to love it.

Thanks. I’ve heard them called “London pins” before. You cannot slip a dime between the tails. It’s just how I’ve always cut them because that’s how I was taught. A lot of people will cut their tails first, but I’ve never tried that. I always cut the pins first and then use them to mark the tails. Whatever gets the job done I suppose.

Nice build. Where did you buy your quilted maple at? I have a hard time finding any online.

I am in Northern Virginia, about an hour outside DC. I got it at a place called C. P. Johnson Hardwoods just outside Culpeper. He has many fine hardwoods available and started carrying some exotics a while back. This is my go-to place for wide slabs of cherry, figured maples, and beautiful black walnut boards.
