Pet stairs

We have a short-legged dog that can’t jump onto the bed no matter how hard he tries. We used to keep foldable plastic pet steps near the bed to help him climb, but they are very light weight and feel a bit flimsy. I have built these stairs as a replacement – weighting ~50lb, they don’t move at all even I jump on them, very solid and sturdy.

The stairs is built out of single block of pine cut to ~12” x 6” x 4” blocks and glued together to form 6” tall and 6” wide steps. The supporting leg is also built out of salvaged timber – 2” x 6” old-growth pine. The rails are made of 1/2” plywood – mostly to cover the ugly end grain and carpet staples.

Nicely done. Has the dog learned to use them yet?
