I only made the table not the chairs
This birch tree fell across my driveway and as I was cutting it up I saw the point where a number of branches all came out at once. I thought i might be able to make a table out of it but had no clear plan. The challenge was to get the top square and level when the trunk of tree came up at an odd angle in two dimensions
It took me a while to come up with solution. What I ended up doing was making an inner box that was slightly larger than the trunk and fitting it with wedges. I cut wedges from 10 to 25 degrees in one degree increments and messed with them until I got them to fit correctly. A bit of a trial and error solution
Once I had level I made a second finished half lap joint box to fit over the interior box.
The top is a piece of live edge walnut I bought a woodworking show a few years ago with no clear plan as to what to do with it. Needed to use a bit of epoxy around the knot.
It proved to be an interesting project, more fiddling than hardcore woodworking but I am happy with the result.

I love the natural look..especially the base. It sure fits in with that setting with those chairs.
Happy Thanksgiving..Cheers, Jim
