A clean simple desk that I call a Library Desk. Maple (mostly figured maple). The key features is matching grain across the from apron rail and the drawer faces.

Tapered legs, simple wooded drawer runners/supports and a 1” thick top. The frame/carcass is surprisingly light and easy to handle, yet the structure is stiff and strong. I have been pushing to make thinner legs to change the look and weight of a piece and I think i pays off here.

If you want to see all the small steps, I recorded them in a video:

Very nicely understated. I think the tapered legs lighten up the weight as you mentioned. My youngest daughter is looking for a table/desk for her college apartment. This might fit the bill.

What did you use for a finish?

The finish is Osmo Polywax. It is a great all-round finish.

Very nice looking desk. The dog may even let you use it once in a while ;)

Yea…he is always within six feet of me. His pack instinct is strong.

Love the dog shelter. It could even be used as a desk. Very good work and design.

Fantastic project. Nice descriptive video too. I like the look of this desk too. Do you think this is somewhat of a beginner type project? (assume I will get some help with the dovetail joinery with a friend with some dovetail tools).

I would say yes. It is a top, four legs, four apron pieces and three drawers. Pretty straight forward. As to dovetails…they don’t have to be amazing to work and by the time you do the third drawer you will surprised at how good you are getting. People overthink them.

Very nice build on this desk, looks great. Nice work on the grain installation on the apron and drawers, gives this piece a true handcrafted appearance, made with a concern for details.

Just watched the video, nice details on the build, good video.
