Our great granddaughter is fascinated with magnets so I made her a little surprise for tomorrow when we have her.. These are some wooden cars I sketched up on some 1 3/4” stock and cut out. Car guys don’t laugh too much -they are supposed to be a pickup, a van and an SUV.( Too much detail in a ‘57 Chevy!) They are made from walnut, cherry and mesquite and they have a 3/4” North rare earth magnet in the front and a South magnet in the back so they hook together if you pull them up close to each other. They can be lifted as a string as shown in the 4th photo. She has been taking about 6 refrigerator magnets and sticking them on what every metal she could find so this will give her some variety! The magnets are epoxied in with a thin disk of the matching wood on top.
They are buffed and waxed for a finish.

Cheers, Jim

They’re really nice Jim and the kids love them. Especially when they play crash-0. LOL.
I’m surprised you didn’t sign grandpa on them.

Nice!

Sorta like the little black and white magnetic dogs my Mom kept in her purse to keep me quiet in church.

Not enough… I thought it was a 58!

These are fantastic and the perfect size to link up to my grandsons wood train track w/ bridges. At 3.4 yes old he’s a building/ engineering madman! I love it! Thanks Jim for sharing!
