Saw vise

Since I’m learning to sharpen hand saws, I decided to build my first saw vise. I used maple stair-nosing beveled for angled filing, leftover oak millwork trimmings, and a Shop Fox veneer vise ($14.99, plus tax and shipping). I may refine it a little, but I used it to dress up my gent saw and it worked pretty good. Probably a smaller jaw would work better for small saws. But I’m learning as I go.

Well done Keith. That will do the job nicely.

Thanks, guys. I added another photo that has a better view of the vise screw.

Nicely done. A saw vise is on my bucket list of projects. I really like the simplicity of your design. Thanks for sharing.

I need to make one, I made a quick jig it works but having something solid like this would be awesome.

I like it, mine is very rough, might have to redesign following your take.

Like the bench and the vise (the one the saw vise is in).
