Desks for virtual students

With the ongoing pandemic I was getting a little bored, had all the home projects finished. I decided to build desks for the virtual students. Just in our small county alone there are over 1500 virtual students and I discovered that many did not have a dedicated study space at home.
The desks are 24×32, as I was concerned about families having space for them, and some families need more than 1 desk. The heart on the front is the icing on the cake, so to say, it really gets high marks from the students and the parents.
As overwhelming as this task seemed we believe in our children. We believe that the pride of having their own desk will motivate and excite them to learn. And we believe in kindness to others and that kindness is contagious.

We have delivered over 100 desks for students in Marshall County and we’re still building! We are excited to expand desks to other local districts and our hope, depending on funding, is to get desks out to even more districts. Materials in multiples of 6 amount to $15.00 per desk, so building in multiples we were able to keep the price doable.
We set up a Facebook page, contacted local businesses and have done real well with sponsorship for the desks. 100 percent of all money raised goes directly to the materials for the desks.

The need is great and we are hoping to supply this number again and again until all that need a desk have one. It has given me a project that will make a difference to the students, and there smiles will just warm your heart!

Here are a couple links with more pictures of the desks!

Huh, going through my “virtual day” I have found that I hardly watch the news anymore, it’s generally bad, or depressing, so seeing things are semi dreary I thought it was a great coping mechanism.

So this need has passed me by. Seeing your post I see entries from all over the country about people doing the same. Tomorrow I will go about finding out who is driving the heard near me, and build a few desks.

Meanwhile good on you for jumping in, and Thanks for being my news channel.

That is a very kind gesture, I am sure that bring hope to the recipients.
