Writing Table

This is a writing table I made as a gift. The person wanted the top to be hinged, which is maybe a little strange for a writing table, but easier to build then a drawer.

I used contrasting boards for the central stripe and breadboards because I had 2 pieces of cherry both with some nice grain, but they would have sort of clashed; the idea was to sort of ‘frame them’ with the walnut pieces.

Anyways, happy with it other than not a great job on the finish. Still learning to spray.

Cherry & walnut finished with lacquer.

Thanks for lookin’

Very attractive desk. Nice joinery too. I’ve never understood the concept of a lift top, clearly it is for people that never have anything on their desk . I have never fallen into that category ;) But if that is what the customer wanted, good job delivering on it.
