My nephew cut down a small japanese maple in their yard last year and provided me with a log about 4 foot long and 4-5 inches wide. I do not have a bad saw but was able to get a few boards out of it on the table saw. One of the boards tapered toward the end forming a natural handle. The other side had a small crack so I tried a bowtie to help stabilize it. That was my first attempt at a bowtie. It worked out fairly well. Being on the underside it will not get much exposure but I was happy to learn and try it. The piece is a little skinny but would sit nice in the center of a table with some tasty treats. Thanks

Never heard of them before… however, an ad just started popping up on TV talking about them… I still don’t know what they are but I now know of another word I can’t spell or pronounce.

At least I can appreciate (and spell bowty) your first tie.
