Halloween is just around the corner, I’ve wanted to make something special and different for our grand and great grandchildren this year.
Started with making hollow boxes out of cutoff poplar stock I have laying around. Boxes ended up being 5-1/2” square and 1” depth inside. Re-sawed the front and back panels out of 3/4” stock to creat thinner front and backs. The 3/8” thickness makes scroll saw work a bit easier. Each jack o lantern face is different and cut out using my old Dremmel scroll-saw. Took me hours to get them all cut and filed. Worth it I think!
Using 9-12 volt LED made an ideal light source. To add to the light I painted the interior Jack-o-lantern orange and sprinkled glitter onto the wet paint. For even more light inside I cut mirror tile to fit on two of the inside walls! That was the “kicker” that reflected a lot of light. Soldered all the joints, that took the longest time of this project! I don’t throw away much and I always keep the power cords of broken electronics! I found enough transformer/cords in the correct voltage to power all of them. Hot melt glue holds the LED and wiring in place.
Thanks for looking! I would love to hear what you thing of my Woodworkers Jack-O-Lanterns!

Pretty neat. I bet they got the young ones in the mood for some candy.
