Project Information

This is the 2020 harvest box that I made from an old piece of Hickory I that i had laying around for years and just big enough for making this box. The size is 12" X 7 1/2" x 4" and the sides are sloped at seven degrees and walnut feet . .The finished is wipe on poly .The inside bottom has a cotton velour liner.
Just a simple box with some rough looking grain that will remind you of the old time farm.

Our guild won't have a show at the fall harvest and art show but I thought making something would be a good thing and celebrate the 2020 harvest in a quiet way .

Nice job Klaus. It is a beautiful piece of Hickory and you matched up the grain nicely. It's a shame a lot of things are getting cancelled this year but I guess it's for the best.
I was expecting to see one of your beautiful trays with it, something I have been improving on lately after getting tips from you.

Thanks Dave
Yes a tray would be nice but this piece of hickory was looking at me and I just had to make a box from it but I will take you up on the reminder and make a tray also .
You are right about everything being on hold but I am starting to think it's overblown and just read a comment by a virologist saying that people that had the flu shot in the last few years will likely test positive as the flu vaccine is similar Well life must go on so lets enjoy and look forward to better times .

I did the best I could with this old chunk of split and warped hickory and turned out OK .

I'd like to compliment that wood grain but appear to be quite late. Simple is beautiful…

First glance I thought, pretty simple box from Klaus? thought for a moment that you might be slipping:)
Then the slope sides and feet put it into the Art Stage again, had me worried for a second or two!
Well done!

Nice box. I love hickory, remodeled my kitchen with hickory cabinets and floor in 2002.
