A project I wanted to do for a long time. The chess board is walnut and maple. The rest of the table is red oak. Legs are made from gum wood that I had left over from another project. The chess pieces are from a chess set my uncle gave me over 50 years ago.

I appreciate the positive comments. Of course I see a ton of mistakes but I accept that as part of the learning process.
As to whether I use it, it’s been a long time but I have a grandson that wants to learn how to play.

Nicely done. Good to get the grandson involved in the game with you.

I am not seeing any mistakes. Are you going to line the drawer with anything, or make compartments for the chess pieces?

Eric the drawer does have a liner in it. Nothing fancy. My wife had some left over drwer liners from the kitchen and that’s what was used. I did not make compartments for the chess pieces but there is a bag of wooden checkers in the drawer!
