Early spring of 2019, I happened onto a very large and heavy white oak burl. I have had it in my winter heated shop until this point. To load it I had to cut some of the sides off to get it loaded into the truck to transport. I decided to slice up one of the cutoff ends and I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. Looking for suggestions.

Woa! So you are saying the photo first photo is wider than a truck bed? That is a serious burl. The obvious choice due to the size would be a dining table. A sliding man cave door would be cool too… but that might involve cutting it further which would be sad.

Find either a Shrink, or a Doc who does Cranial surgery, and sell it to them at 25 times the price as a wall hanging for the office.

See where I’m going here???

I didn’t mean to mislead anyone. The larger picture is a bookend matched center glued measuring about 20”x24” +-. It is less than 3/4” thick and not very stable. The smaller half circle is a little thicker but is dado fitted into the oak base to keep it from cupping. Stability appears to be a big problem.

Based on your description, it’s pretty much worthless for much else where stability, or the ability to build with it is concerned. So yeah, wall art to a Doc with some association with the human brain. Carefully mount, and frame it. Something like a shadow box to protect it’s frail nature.

If you did that, and put it on Etsy with a BIG pricetag, your buyer is gonna be a Doc. Title it thinking of you. Ohhh maybe Headache…..
