Made these for some friends and wanted to see if I could make a secret compartment using the tray with magnets,

To get to the secret area just turn the upper tray 180 and the magnets will grip the magnets with the removable lower tray. (See pictures 3 and 4) I decided to use some cedar for the tray which I had never used on a project. Each tray bottom is bookmatched to try to have some grain feature.
The box is 11” tall x 8.5” deep and 12” in length with mitred corners – added some zebrawood splines for strength.

The drawers I could have done better on as this is my second attempt at small drawer application….
I decided to use Enduro Var Satin with a few coats of wax.

Dang!
Handsome boxes and the secret compartments are very cool.
Great wood combo!

I like. Impressed with the wood mix, and the curlies just set them off. Really like the trays, they are a nice touch.

Nice job.

Nice design, and clever too. I like what you did with the drawer pulls.
