Nothing to do today so I went out to the shop and threw together a quick blue crankbait. A super simple build. Nothing fancy. A little over three hours in all. The short video shows the build from design to putting it in the water to observe the action. And it turns out that it’s good. And as usual, I make everything except the hooks.
It’s made of cedar btw….

Me too. Fishing here really sucks this summer. Last year was the best… I’ve made more baits than I’ve caught fish!
Thnx…

well at least when there not biting youve got something to do.know you said they drained your lake so that takes time to recover.our fav lake in oregon got over run with tui chubs,a bait fish that some idiot introduced and over ran the lake killing all the juvenile trout.took years batteling the enviros to poison the lake drain it and start over.after one year the trout population took off like crazy.have faith yours will probably do the same.

Again, I am embarrassed that a project that took me three hours to make and of no real significance has been put into the top three again. I love to post as I have all my furniture and other projects but when I look at all the elaborate, beautiful, and time consuming projects on LJ’s. I wish they had a “don’t consider this for a top 3” button on the site. I don’t know what the algorithm is that does this but it happens too much and should be reworked I think.
I’ve been thinking about this for a long while now and I just wanted to express this.

yeah the top 3 is really meaningless as to the quality or time spent on project from what if been told it is a matter of views and comments in a given time period, you can spend a year making a chippendale dresser and not get top 3. it does say that people like what youve done though so it does have some value.

I ran into that issue also. Started just making lures for myself and hit the water more.
Have your say...
