Inspired by another member’s dump truck, I went and bought the plans for this Dump Truck from Woodcraft.

I wanted to build a toy to help get rid of all the small pieces of scrap I had laying around which is why I included some Walnut with sapwood in it. Primarily I used Walnut and Cherry with a piece of spalted Maple for the cab and front bumper.

The wheels were made with a hole saw and then finished up on the lathe, which worked really well.

I made one addition to the original plans by adding a working rear door. I was actually quite impressed with myself over the execution of making it work. It happens occasionally!

Made a couple mistakes, but overall I thought the truck turned out great. My sons are both fighting over it, so I’m tempted to jump back in and make another. However, I don’t miss all the glueups.

Questions and comments are both welcome. Thanks for looking.

Very nicely done!

You do have to make another—different color combinations then they pick blindfolded—So one cannot claim the others truck!
